Teba-Ronda

This is a stunning cycle ride of 31 miles through the mountains.

Teba has one of the most extraordinary historical connections of any of Andalucia’s pueblos (villages). In 1330 ‘Black Douglas’ who helped Robert the Bruce defeat Edward II at Banockburn, whilst on his way to the Crusades, waded in to assist Teba when it was under siege by the Moors. Legend has it that he flung the Bruce's heart (which he carried with him in a casket) into the fray to stir his men.

Ronda is one of the most impressive towns in Andalucia, and indeed the whole of Spain, with world famous views and a fantastic bridge spanning the huge 'El Tajo' gorge. It's a superb place to sample the local cuisine and Tapas.

Iznajar

A scenic ride by the shores of the largest lake in Andalucia.

This small town of 6,000 inhabitants was transformed some years ago by the creation of an ‘embalse’ or reservoir.

Iznajar sits in the River Genil Valley.

Today, for all intents and purposes, Iznajar now has a waterfront, overlooking an inland sea some 30 kilometres long. The views of the lake are impressive all the way round and Iznajar is a real gem.

El Torcal

El Torcal is one of nature’s marvels, a fantastic place of limestone formations that was under the sea 100 million years ago.

The area is a designated National Park of Spain and spans some 17 square kilometres. Now at some 1,300m above sea level (equivalent to the summit of Ben Nevis) it offers a steep mountainous climb for the serious and dedicated cyclist.

However, the cycle ride from Antequera to El Torcal is much more sedate and we can meet you at the base and transport you to the top by car.

El Torcal is a must for anyone visiting Andalucia and one of the most unusual natural locations in Europe.

Mollina—Fuente de Piedre

A local cycle ride from our accommodation in Mollina that takes you through the olive groves on a superb cycling road to the famous ‘Flamingo Laguna’.

This ride also has the option, popular by local cycling clubs, of riding to the nearby town of Alemeda.

It’s a relatively flat ride so why not try it twice.

The Laguna is home to the largest colony of Flamingos in Spain and is second only in importance in Europe to France’s Carmargue.

Sierra Navada

And for the true enthusiast, the crowning glory of the Sierra Nevada.

The winding steep roads climb to one of the highest points in Europe, slamming in at a formidable 2,100m.

Agreeing with you the start point, and meeting you at several stages, you can climb as much or as little of this mammoth as you can handle.

A ‘challenge’ as a description of this ride is pretty much of an understatement!

Whether you brave the whole climb or just ride part of it, the experience will live with you forever.
